The image above is the interior of SEMS 3. The two images on the right exhibit the safety upgrades made to SEMS 2. The passenger side bench seat has been removed and replaced with a captain's chair. The captain's chair (as well as the captain's chair on the driver's side) adjusts forward and back as well as to the left and right, and has a 5-point safety harness. The idea is that the care providers can stay seated and restrained at all times but are still able to provide patient care. This is safer for the patient as well as the EMS provider.
The "airway seat" (the seat at the head of the cot), has been changed in SEMS 2 as well. The bench seat has been moved nearer the cab and becomes a secondary patient bench. The airway seat will swivel to allow this EMS provider to care for a second patient if the need arises, as shown in the image on the right. The seat also has a built in child safety seat to transport a pediatric patient.
